Cal
Donnell
Treasurer
My name is Cal Donnell and I am running for the
position of Treasurer for your Wyckoff Education Association.
On both a personal and professional level, I am fully invested
in the success of Wyckoff’s schools. I have been
a Wyckoff resident for 8 years. My son is a 5th grader at
Washington Elementary and my daughter is an 8th grader at
Eisenhower. In addition to using the school’s
services, I substituted at Lincoln, Coolidge, Sicomac, and
Eisenhower prior to being hired full time. I taught
5th grade at Coolidge for one year before being moved to
my current position as an 8th grade social studies teacher
at Eisenhower. I see the WEA as an integral part of
maintaining and improving the quality of education in our
schools.
Prior to entering the world of teaching via the MAT program
at Montclair State University, I used my undergraduate degree
in Economics Management and Finance (Ohio Wesleyan University, ’84)
and ran a successful commercial photography business for
12 years. During that time I also served as the Secretary
and later Vice Chair of the Rochelle Park Environmental Commission,
where we worked to develop balanced ordinances for the protection
of open space and wetlands, while meeting the needs of the
community.
I also served on the Session (governing body) of the First
Presbyterian Church of Hackensack for several years, serving
as the head of the Finance Committee from 2001 to 2004. These
experiences have helped me understand how different organizations
operate and have allowed me to develop skills that would
help while serving on the Executive Committee of the WEA.
I believe that serving as the Treasurer is a way for me
to use my experience and education to benefit the excellent
people represented by our association.
Thank you,
Cal Donnell
